yoga
My dad is a Buddhist who also happens to be a painter. In exchange for some painting he did for a new yoga studio just opening up he received yoga class passes. He gifted me these for Christmas one year and the rest is history. That was 13 years ago.
I remember clear as day people describing their yoga practice as ‘amazing’ and ‘blissful’. I have to admit in the beginning it was neither for me. It took awhile for me to understand that change is not always comfortable. But I found myself week after week rolling out my mat ready for the challenge ahead. After all I figured half the battle was getting myself to the studio but once I was there I was committed.
Yoga for me was the tool I needed to take my life in a different direction. It offered me guidance, discipline and challenge and it wasn’t long before I began to notice how strong I really was.
We may come to our yoga mat in hopes of gaining more flexibility and strength, to de stress and relax or to experience being part of a bigger community. Whatever brings you to your mat the journey is amazing!
